Alienware and XPS - Dell Clears it Up

Alienware LogoOne of Dell’s official blogs has come to my rescue and shed a more conclusive light on the whole XPS gaming line in favor of Alienware story that I’ve been watching.

The crux of it is that the XPS and Alienware development teams are being combined.

XPS will concentrate on the high-end consumer direction (”XPS isn’t going away, though it may go in new directions as hinted by the XPS One and the slimline XPS m1330″) while Alienware totally subsumes Dell’s gaming side becoming the “….. fantastic global brand that sets benchmarks for gaming.”

So there you have it.

Alienware m15x is Cracking Up!

Written by Jay Garrett on March 12, 2008 in: Gaming, Hardware, Laptops, News | Tags: , , , , , , ,

M15xOwners of Alienware’s M15x have started to find that their machine is overheating and/or developing cracks in the frame for no apparent reason.

This isn’t the first issue that has plagued the m15x - the edge lighting had a few problems before a software fix.

Not what you’d expect after forking out over £1500!!

For that you could get a NovaTech X80r Pro!

Alienware have said that the company is “aware of the issue and working hard to figure out what’s going on.”

Hmmmmm…………………

Asus ARES CG6150If you love Alienware’s iconic cases then prepare to require new under-garments after seeing the new Asus gaming desktop - the ARES CG6150.

This evil robotic head looks like it’ll start barking orders at you at any moment - and you will comply!

It’s brain is a liquid cooled Core 2 Extreme processor, up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM, three-way NVIDIA SLI, and up to four terabytes of storage all powered by dual power supplies.

As you can see, it’s no slouch and personally I think Alienware and Voodoo should be looking over their shoulders……………

Wrap-round monitor from Alienware

Written by Jay Garrett on January 7, 2008 in: Gaming, Hardware, News, Television/TV | Tags: , , , ,

Alienware DLPAlthough still in prototype stylee; how cool is this doublewide curved DLP display complete with OLED illumination from Alienware?

They say that it will be available in the second half of this year though.  The curvature of the 2880 x 900 res screen has been designed to mimic the players peripheral vision and with a reported sub .02-millisecond response time it should keep all gamers pretty happy.  I’m thinking that this may also be a handy addition to recording studios where 2 monitors seem a minimum requirement…..

Via Engadget whose life I’m having to live vicariously.
