Yeah, yeah - I know that this phone was officially anounced last month but LG has just launched a standalone microsite for their Prada II.

You are probably already aware that it packs HSDPA, WiFi, 5-megapixel camera, 3-inch 400 x 240 pixel capacitive multi-touch display and quad-band GSM connectivity.

But did you know about the matching Prada Link Bluetooth watch?

The fashionable timepiece syncs with your Prada II and shows your incoming calls and texts as well as probably telling the time.

Still no news regarding release or price - I reckon you’ll be looking around £500.

Mino Goes Flippin High Def!

Written by Jay Garrett on November 12, 2008 in: Camera's, News, Social Networking | Tags: , , , , , , ,

Pure Digital’s Flip Mino was pretty good for the money and the Ultra even more so - but now it’s gone Flippin HD!

Ok, so it’s listed as being $230 in the Wall Street Journal so perhaps cool it a bit.

For the cash you get about an hour’s worth of fixed zoom, 720p, MPEG-4 video recorded to 4GB of built-in flash memory.

Shove the USB cam into your PC or Mac to launch the built-in FlipShare editing software for fine-tuning your videos before sharing via MySpace, YouTube or direct over email. Obviously this gets compressed to 480×270.

There is word of HD sharing via an unnamed partner arriving early next year according to Pure.

Katie Boehret, over at the Wall Street Journal groped the gear and seemed impressed by the video and improved sound quality.

Overall she made noises to the fact that the FlipShare was well worth the $50 premium over the previous Flip Mino.

Drugs in MP3 Format - Trippy Beats?

This one really caught my eye and I felt the need to share.

The chance of getting my hands on legal mind-altering drugs, without the side-effects sounds good - and to achieve this through technology – well, that sounds too good to be true!

Now, the promise of  “proven, scientific and safe methods of synchronising your brainwaves” through pulses of binaural beats or sound waves has been an on-going thing since the ’30s.

Basically the science of altering your mind’s state and your mood by sounds.

Users of sound cancelling headphones can quite often feel the effects of the sound waves, reporting a light-headedness or dizziness with specific models.

i-Doser claims you can get a similar experience from their MP3s, which offers certain sounds that mimic feelings brought on by your average street drugs………..apparently.

For less than a tenner, i-Doser will sell you the Recreational Simulations 1 MP3 pack, which contains four “doses” in MP3 format, each provoking the feeling of a different ’street drug’…….obviously I would not be able to comment on that.

Effects often gained from the use of marijuana, cocaine, opium and peyote are promised in these doses, with each audio track containing their “advanced binaural beats that will synchronise your brainwaves to the same state as the recreational dose”.

It’s up to you whether you think that these effects are merely psychosomatic - but perhaps there’s only one way to find out………maaaaaaaaaaaan.

Eidos Blu-Ray Player - Worth its weight in Gold(mund)?

Eidos20BDNow, I know that Blu-Ray came out victorious - but there is still a limit to how much I’d pay for this conquoring tech.

The Goldmund Eidos 20 BD, aimed at “audio-video purists”, will set you back roughly £8,500!!  :0.

They claim to be the first “high-end audio/video manufacturer” to offer a Blu-ray player saying that the new model “embodies the Goldmund high-tech refinement that has made the Swiss-based company a leader in the audiophile community for the last 30 years.”  Remember, almost nine grand!

Bragging rights include the “AC-Curator” power supply circuit which dramatically improves picture and sound stability and dynamics, and the “Mechanical Grounding” construction which removes from the player mechanism spurious vibrations blurring the video signal and increasing jitter.

Still, it’s almost £9,000 even with Goldmund’s “Magnetic Damper,” a device lowering the reading errors; a feature that previously was exclusive to Goldmund’s highest end devices - it is still a startling amount.

How much is a PS3 again?
