Noise MapIf you want to check out how noisy an area is before you move there - or to see how powerful your stereo is you can now search DEFRA’s noise map by postcode to monitor noise levels.

The 23 areas include London, Manchester and Sheffield.

Defra said the maps would help to tackle “unreasonable noise pollution”.

The mapping process was carried out during 2006 and 2007 and incorporated the noise maps produced for the 18 English airports that were published in December last year.

The website also includes information on the number of people exposed to these levels of noise.

192With better resolution than Google 192.Com’s site  is quite outstanding.

With a view described as the same as that you’d get from the roof of a 10 storey building it’s pretty special.

I zoomed in on The Oasis leisure centre at the end of Shaftsbury Avenue and the result is that you can clearly see people swimming in the outdoor pool!
