Nokia N96 Being Shipped To The UK

Nokia has finally announced that their much anticipated flagship (since February!) N96 has now started shipping so it’s likely to appear a month earlier than the previously thought October date.

If you need reminding it boasts a TV tuner, 5-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, turn-by-turn voice navigation, 16GB of internal memory that can be increased to 24GB with an optional microSD card, “superior sound and music”, N-Gage gaming and a 2.8-inch display.

Nokia says that first shipments of the device have started and it will be available with an estimated retail price of 550 euros (about £450) before taxes, subsidies and those other niceties.

In the UK, operators and retailers are due to be 3, Carphone Warehouse, Orange, Phones4U, T-Mobile and Vodafone.

You can order your own direct from Nokia. The store still offers it as a pre-order at the moment, but that’s likely because they’re clearing the backlog of existing orders before listing it properly.

Rejoyce!

New iPods - Let’s Rock!

Looks like the new iPods will come on September 9 just as expected.

Apple have sent out invites (mine got lost in the post again it seems) for the event that is taking place at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco at 10:00 a.m.

No prizes for guessing that this event is going to be centered around the iPod but doesn’t Apple usually try to spring something on us? Or, at least, keep us guessing?

I’m feel lost and a little frightened…………..Mummy, why are they being up-front with everything??  I don’t like it!!

iPhone - Another Month, Another Update

The word on the interblogweb street is that Apple’s iPhone 3G is getting yet another software update this month, speeding up its operating system and ironing out security and GPS bugs.

According to AppleInsider, the handset’s lagging contacts list (something I’ve noticed but just put down to the many contacts I have) will be fixed by a September software update.

The source of the rumour is pretty good as it is none other than Apple boss Steve Jobs, who apparently responded to angry customers directly, unveiling the update to one who accused his firm of using customers as “beta testers.”

So - get ready to update people - via AppleInsider

N96 In Store September 2008

N96 Out Sept 08

N96 Out Sept 08

I’m a fan of Noks N95

I love the camera, I love the screen and I loved it as anyone would love their first smartphone.

Looking around the City I see that it is still a very popular phone.

I’ve had plenty of searches regarding the release of it’s heir and then saw this.

It looks like the N96 is coming in September.

It will be running the Symbian OS 9.3 Series 60 3rd Edition Feature Pack with a 16.3 GB (accessible: 16.2 GiB) memory and a screen res of 240 x 320.

It also will be packing DVB-H, Satellite Navigation with Assisted GPS the 5mp snapper we all knnow and love with the bonus of everyone’s new favourite toy; a Built-in accelerometer.

Can’t wait to get one to review!  (Hint!)

Update:  It appears that it has been pushed back to October according to Carphone Warehouse.

Thanks Rob :0)

Sony Cut Price Of 80GB PS3

PS3 Price CutSony has announced at E3 that there’s going to be a price hack of the 80GB PS3 to $400 in September.

The new model will have the “current functionality” of the 40GB PS3.

I’m reading that as it’s more like the 40GB PS3 is getting a capacity hike.

I’m guessing that also means no backwards compatibility.

On the upside, the 80GB PS3 now costs the same as a 60GB 360 and an Xbox Live membership.

You pays your money, you make your choice my friends :0)
