Micron 256 GB SSD Out 2009

The battle of the SSD’s (Solid State Drives) continue with Micron announcing that it plans to release a 256GB SSD early next year.

In true ‘mines bigger than yours’ form Micron claims that its 256GB SSD can read data at 250MBps compared to Samsung’s 220 Mbps.  They obviously ignored the fact that Samsung’s can write faster, 200MBps to Micro’s 100 MBps.  ;)

Ok, so it’s not really edge of your seat stuff but I can’t wait for the day when version 4 or 5 of the iPhone is loaded with 256GB of space to play around with.

Forget about apps and audio - think about packing HD films in your pocket and then playing them via a tiny projector……..

Tube Status on iPhone 3G - Updated!

Here’s another natty free app for the iPhone!

Anyone living in London, or indeed that visits London on a regular basis, will be aware of our lovely underground train system.

Where it is generally reliable there are those occassions where you have to be somewhere at a certain time and need that up-to-the-minute information regarding the state of the tube.

I got caught out when travelling from my home-base (Chalk Farm) to the Regent Street Apple Store - thinking I’d take a short-cut on the Victoria Line to get me to Oxford Circus - the line was down :0/

So, go and download this fabby freebie and before you dive down to the underground have a quick check on your iPhone :0)

Update!

As of August 16th this great app also features DLR status :)
