Radio Controlled Black Widow - Not For the Timid

I know that if I was foolish enough to buy one of these that I’d wake up dead and the last thing that I would see was my girlfriend force-feeding me this gadget; not necessarily via my mouth either! :o

But I risk all to share with you the joy of this RC Black Widow Spider.

Be warned that this may be the shortest lived RC device to come into the house as it’s life may be prematurely ended by a well-placed slipper to the head.

But just think of the shrill screams of delight fear as you make this little arachnid scurry around the family room on its eight little legs.

All it requires is six AA batteries, one 9-volt battery, £14.99 and perhaps some really good running shoes and you will surly get minutes of enjoyment from it :)

Warning! Posable Caution Sign Figure Ahead!

Written by Jay Garrett on November 17, 2008 in: Toys 'n' Stuff | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

We are all aware of the little yellow signs with the accident prone fella tripping over something, slipping on something or generally coming to grief in one way or another.

Chances are that the more creative souls out there have one or three more humourous but equally perilous positions to put that stick figure into.

Well, that chance has arrived!

For the princely sum of $12 you can get yourself (or a friend/loved one) a completely posable figure and yellow triangle with which to devise funny and instructional warnings for as long as you have an ounce of cruelty in your diabolical hearts!

Now if there only one with a huge potted flower so I could recreate the ‘Heavy Plant Crossing’ sign………….

R2 See Through - Radio Controlled Transparent R2D2

Tomy have released a transparent radio-controlled R2-D2.

The mini light saber, which is also transparent, doubles as a remote control.

As well as contolling R2D2 around the place the remote also lets you rotate his dome as he rolls, beep and whistle, and illuminate his photoreceptor “eye”.

The transparent plastic lets you see the inner working of the R2D2 - not for squeamish droids!

This new Transparent R/C R2-D2 by Tomy is available from the Star Wars Shop for $24.99 - this is the droid you are looking for!

The Catbot of your Dreams? Dream Cat

Written by Jay Garrett on January 19, 2008 in: General Interest, Hardware, Robots, Toys 'n' Stuff | Tags: , , , , , , ,

Dream Cat

From the makers of Dream DX dog comes the Dream Cat. A pretty realistic catbot until you discover that it doesn’t purr or meow - it talks!

Yup, the feline droid is preloaded with 333 words (all Japanese at the moment). It has sensors over its body and depending where you touch it responds accordingly. A gentle pat on the head will give a very cute response and if you interact with it after a long time it gets angry - just like a real cat, but I’m guessing this one wont take a swipe at you with claws drawn.

The Dream cat is powered by 2 x AAA batteries and will be available in Japan soon for 10,290 Yen (about £50).

Sakura Girl

SakuraLooking for Christmas ideas for my neice I found this on Shiny Shiny. This is the Sakura robot, it’s pink and seems to get around on a customised Segway. Apparently, she knows a few jokes, can give you “fun facts and fashion tips” and play back five different songs. Additionally, her board can be remotely controlled, and if you two build up a certain level of trust, you can record “secrets” within that will only be repeated should you insert the requisite key. All this for £49.99 on Amazon - I think it’s made the short-list!
